Mass Fire at Motorcycle Workshop Causes Damage Worth £200k
A long-standing race bike business in Dudley has gone up in flames after a mass fire broke out and caused huge damage

Trident MCS has been left devastated after a huge fire breakout has resulted in the motorcycle restoration workshop suffering a number of destroyed bikes, while workshop tools and racing memorabilia have also been ruined.
The historic race bike business, based in Dudley, manufactures Rob North Trident and Rocket Three race bikes and the damage caused by the fire is believed to be in the region of £200k.
The fire at Trident MCS on Mons Hill in Woodsetton resulted in crews from eight different fire stations being called into action after a call was made about the fire in the early hours of Friday morning.
The crews battled the fire which had broken out in the centre of the warehouse, full of restored motorcycles at the time, before huge blazes of smoke were seen coming from the roof of the building.
The business goes back a long way and Trident MCS is currently run by husband and wife, Les and Denise Whiston. Les, who began his professional career as a mechanic, had no active insurance policy to cover the incident after the policy expired while recovering from a serious motorcycle accident last August.
Detailing what happened at around 6:30am on Friday, Les Whiston said: "Denise woke up at about half six and told me to look out of the window and I saw the smoke in the air, so we came down here as quickly as we could.
"I'm devastated as there are bikes in there worth hundreds of thousands of pounds and I don't have any insurance and we haven't been able to get in yet, but I know that there's customer bikes in there.”
