BMW S 1000 RR Isle of Man TT Limited Edition debuts… but not for the UK
BMW S 1000 RR Isle of Man Limited Edition dons an emerald shade to celebrate its successes at the hugely popular iconic road race
There may be no Isle of Man TT for a second successive year but BMW hasn’t passed up the opportunity to toast its successes on the ‘Mountain’ with the launch of this Manx-inspired S1000 RR sportsbike.
Curiously though, despite it wearing the Isle of Man TT moniker and comes in a shimmering emerald shade akin to the most patriotic of racing Greens, this is a special edition destined for sale in France with only 50 examples of the sportsbike set to find homes.
An accompaniment to the four-wheel equivalent - the M3 Berline - the BMW S 1000 RR Isle of Man Edition comes in the same colour, named M Isle of Man Green, to give it a striking appearance quite the alternative to the more familiar corporate white, red and blue shades.
This month would have seen the 2021 Isle of Man TT take place with BMW likely to have been one of the favourites with Peter Hickman, currently the record-holder on the Snaefell course with an average speed of 135.452mph aboard a Smiths Racing-prepared BMW.
In all, BMW has achieved three Senior TT wins since making its debut with the first generation S 1000 RR - twice with Michael Dunlop and once with Hickman.
Until the Isle of Man TT rolls around again in 2022, French enthusiasts will at least have the chance to get their hands on this Limited Edition which - while specced with S 1000 RR running gear - adds ‘M’ semi-active suspensions, heated grips, cruise control and M Endurance chain.
The smoked windshield and yellow-tinted headlights nod to the Endurance World Championship.
