FB Mondial expands offerings to include Imola 125 scooter
Historic Italian manufacturer FB Mondial gets into the competitive scooter game with its racing-inspired sporty FB Mondial Imola 125
Scooters remain big business around Europe, accounting for the lion’s share of sales when it comes to two-wheelers, and now a historic Italian-born name is getting in on the act in the form of FB Mondial.
It unveiled its new smallest offering with the FB Mondial Imola 125, taking its name after the Autodromo Enzo de Dino Ferrari circuit in the Emilia-Romagna region town of Imola.
A reflection of its racing past when it dominated the Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championships from the 1940s to the 1950s, the FB Mondial 125 is a sporty-themed scooter in the usual scooter silhouette.
That means there are some smart touches, such as the Italian-synonymous blue livery that mimics the kit of the country’s beloved ‘Italia’ national football team, plenty of angles and edges and LED headlights, plus some snazzy bronze-finish 13-inch alloy rims.
In fact, the three available colours are available in names that reflect corners on the Imola circuit - the Rosso Tamburello, Blu Acqua Minerali and Blanco Tosa.
Features include digital instrument light cluster and keyless start, with prices (in Europe initially) starting at €2,690.
The Imola 125 will slot in at the entry-level of the range, which has so far focused on largely racy and retro-inspired small displacement, plus a motocross-influenced range.
The company - which was founded in 1929 - dominated the lower reaches of GP racing for many years, scoring five riders' championships between 1949 and 1957 before going bankrupt in 2004. Irt was revived again in 2014 with fresh investment.
