HONDA has announced that the flagship of its touring range is to receive an update for 2020 covering each of the models in the ‘Wing range.

The changes are aimed at making the experience of riding the Honda Gold Wing even more refined, with the suspension receiving one of the biggest updates. It’s not that the previous Gold Wing, released in 2018, was unrefined in anyway, the latest changes have been made to improve the low-speed manoeuvrability of the bike. The suspension settings have been optimized for two-up comfort on ‘Tour’ versions, along with larger grab rails for the passenger to hold on to.

Internally, the 1,883cc flat six-cylinder engine has also been improved, with the fuel-injection system being optimized to aid low-speed manoeuvrability. Along with that, the DCT versions of the bike will receive updated software and hardware, again the focus here is low-speed control. The DCT package will also be available on the standard Gold Wing model. This 3rd generation DCT set up is also claimed to be smoother and quieter when shifting between gears, thanks to noise damping rubber bushes on both ends of the fork guide. Honda has also added damping material to the master arm, something they claim greatly reducing any impact sound during gear changes.
