Two new motorcycles are coming out of Italy, both designed by Danilo Petrucci.

The former MotoGP race winner and current WorldSBK rider has collaborated with Dotto Creations, the Italian design house, to come up with two new motorcycle designs. One is a post-modern scrambler-style off-roader, the other a neo-retro sportster.

In the case of the first, La Leggenda di Handyman, the base is a familiar one: the Ducati DesertX. Petrucci, in fact, has ridden the DesertX himself in promotional material alongside Audi’s RS Q e-tron Dakar Rally car. The Italian, though, wants his bike “to look cool, not like those grandpa-looking enduros,” Dotto Creations says.

And, so Handyman was born. It throws away all of the DesertX’s bodywork and reworks a lot of its geometry, too, to make this a lower-slung, tailless scrambler. It keeps the 110bhp, 68lb ft, 937cc Testastretta twin-cylinder motor, though.

Its new bodywork is made from carbon fibre, and it features adjustable handlebars that can apparently be moved on the fly. The headlight, rear light, indicators, skid plate, seat, tank, front fender, rear fender, and fork-guards are all designed by Dotto Creations.

Only 10 Handy… wait. Handymen or Handymans? Anyway, 10 units will be made, so be quick to pre-order yours for an amount of money that has not been published.

The second bike, Il Mito di Noveunosei, is derived from the Ducati Panigale V4 - taking its 1,103cc V4 engine producing 215bhp - and inspired by the Ducati 916 (hence the name).

The reason for the 916 inspiration is nostalgia, but in an acceptable way - the 916 was the first bike Petrucci rode on a circuit. Certainly, looking at the front, the resemblance is clear, with the air intakes positioned and shaped to look like the headlights of the 916.

Further, the exhaust, seat, tank, front fender, and rear fender are all designed by Dotto Creations, the tailpipe itself a modern interpretation of the 916’s under-seat pipes.

Like with the Handyman, we can’t tell you the price of a Noveunosei, but we can tell you that only 16 will be built.
