New Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS Revealed
A new more powerful Speed Triple 1200 RS has been announced, pushing the RR out of the range in 2025

Triumph has pulled the wraps off a new Speed Triple 1200 RS, which kills off the short-lived, half-faired RR model.
Like the RS did when it was released in 2021, the new top-class naked from Triumph becomes the most powerful to date thanks to 180bhp - an uplift of 3bhp over the outgoing bike. Peak torque is also up, rising from 92lb ft to 94lb ft, with peak twist now arriving lower in the rev range than on the outgoing bike. The changes to the bike’s engine are down to clever mapping, ECU updates, and a new free-flowing exhaust system - and yes that end can is as big as it looks, good job there is an optional Akrapovic.

More improvements come in the form of a brand new chassis, with the 2025 Speed Triple becoming the first Hinckley ‘naked’ to gain semi-active suspension courtesy of Ohlins. And I put the emphasis on the ‘naked’ as the Speed Triple 1200 RR also gained similar tech, although that was a half-faired sportster.

And it’s not just the same kit lifted from the RR and dropped onto the RS, this is Ohlins latest and greatest Smart EC3.0 making it about as flashy as suspension gets. It’s bolstered by Ohlins’ trick Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi), which allows for the adjustment of front and rear firmness, braking support, acceleration support, initial acceleration support, cornering support and comfort support. The new bike also gains an adjustable steering damper.

The bike has been further improved for 2025 with the introduction of proper sportsbike quality riding modes and settings - meaning no more combined traction control and wheelie control! For the trackday inclined, the new bike will allow you to tune the Front Wheel Lift Control, Engine Braking Control and Brake Slide Control, while cruise control is still fitted as standard. The new lighter wheels, shod with Pirelli Super Corsa hoops, will also likely help you chase down a lap time, as will the Brembo Stylema calipers and clever IMU-controlled cornering ABS. The only real downside to the new bike is a claimed 1kg more weight than the outgoing machine.

The final major point of change for the new model is the styling and colours, which, while still unmistakably obvious as a Speed Triple, has had a little bit of nip and tuck here and there. The new bike will be landing in dealers from April 2025 onwards and starts at £17,495 OTR. Customers can choose from three colours, Jet Black, or the premium options of Granite and Diablo Red or Granite and Performance Yellow.
Speaking about the new bike, Steve Sargent, Triumph Motorcycles’ Chief Product Officer, said: “The new Speed Triple 1200 RS is now more refined, with a significantly improved electronics package, that makes it even easier for customers to exploit and enjoy the improved performance.”
