Hector Barbera returns to Bennetts British Superbike championship action as stand-in for Glenn Irwin who is suffering from a virus which is causing him partial vision.

The Spanish rider made his BSB debut earlier this season as replacement for Ben Currie at the Donington Park and Brands Hatch rounds while the Australian rider was ruled out by a leg injury.

Barbera will return to BSB action this weekend for Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki at Snetterton standing in for Irwin who was forced into making the call late on.

“Hector did a superb job for us earlier in the season, the whole team really enjoyed working with him and we can see the potential for Hector in BSB,” Pete Extance, team owner, said.

“As always, new riders to the series have to learn the new circuits which are so different to what they have been used to, but we look forward to welcoming him back this weekend. We also want to wish Glenn a speedy recovery from his illness.”

Barbera made an instant impression in BSB with sixth place on his debut at Donington Park before following it up with eighth place in race two while setting the fastest lap in that race which gave him pole position for the finale of the triple-header.

The Spanish rider struggled to make a similar impact at Brands Hatch, on his debut at the Kent circuit, as he claimed 24th and 20th in the two races at the track last month.
