Danny Buchan set himself for the first race day of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship by topping the timesheets in morning warm-up at Silverstone.

One of a handful of riders to improve upon their qualifying times amidst perfect sun-drenched conditions, FS-3 Kawasaki rider turned in a 54.165secs lap just before a lengthy red flag to clear oil from the circuit.

Buchan’s efforts come after Kawasaki teams endured a dismal first qualifying session of the year, with Claudio Corti the highest-placed ZX-10R representative in 12th position, two grid spots ahead of Buchan.

Behind the FS-3 Racing rider, McAMS Yamaha pair Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie – who will start second and first respectively for the curtain raising race – followed up behind, ahead of Josh Elliot, Tommy Bridewell and Scott Redding.

Set to start 18th on the grid following technical issues in qualifying, Josh Brookes successfully managed to shake down his repaired Be Wiser Ducati V4 to claim the seventh best warm-up time, from top Honda rider Andrew Irwin, JG Speedift Kawasaki’s Ben Currie and Buildbase Suzuki’s Luke Stapleford.

The opening round of the 2019 Bennetts Brtish Superbike Championship will take place at 13.30.
