Former MotoGP rider Tito Rabat will make a surprise appearance at the upcoming sixth round of the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB) at  Thruxton after joining forces with TAG Honda.

The Spaniard spent five seasons competing in the MotoGP premier class, though is perhaps better regarded for his dominant run to the 2014 Moto2 World Championship title with the Marc VDS team.

Indeed, though Rabat’s tenure in MotoGP yielded only modest results, he is nonetheless a 13-time GP race winner in the intermediate Moto2 class, while he has accumulated 36 podiums in all across it and the 125GP class.

Since departing MotoGP, Rabat has re-established himself in Superbikes, beginning with a stint in the WorldSBK Championship with Barni Ducati and Puccetti Kawasaki, before reverting to the national ESBK (Spanish) series for the 2022 season.

Leading the championship aboard a Team Laglisse Honda CBR1000RR-R, Rabat is excited by the opportunity to join TAG Racing to ride familiar machinery at the famously fast Hampshire circuit.

“I'm really excited about the opportunity that the team has given me to ride in the BSB race at Thruxton with TAG Honda.

“BSB is the best national championship in the world at the moment and to be able to take part in it in front of all the British fans who fill the circuits is an honour for me.

“I will try to do my best to make sure they enjoy the races this weekend, and although the level of the championship is very high, I will try to get a good result for Honda and the team. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Thruxton!”
