Macau Grand Prix in doubt
Rain and more rain
Visordown News
The running of the 2011 Macau Grand Prix race could be in jeopardy after heavy rain forced the cancellation of qualifying.
Friday's proposed early-morning qualifying session was cancelled due to a heavy overnight shower. Even though the rain had stopped, the track stayed damp due to 83% humidity.
Qualifying is expected to get under way early tomorrow (Sat) morning. Should track conditions not improve, times from the first practice session will determine the grid positions. Michael Rutter is currently quickest.
The race is scheduled to get under way at 3.30pm local time but local weather forecasts predict similar weather for the coming weekend. On safety grounds, motorcycles do no race at Macau on a wet track.
