Laverty out of Misano WorldSBK, no replacement revealed yet
Eugene Laverty turns his attentions to Donington Park WorldSBK after ongoing injury recovery forces him to miss Misano; Go Eleven yet to announce who will replace him
Team Go Eleven has confirmed Eugene Laverty won’t make his racing return for the Misano WorldSBK round this weekend, though the team stopped short of confirming who will replace him.
The Irishman, who fractured his wrists in an accident during the Imola WorldSBK round, had been fully focused on a return at Misano despite admitting the complexity of his injuries meant the following event at Donington Park was more likely.
This has now been confirmed, much to the evident disappointment of Laverty, who will nevertheless travel to Misano to represent his team on home soil even if he won’t be on track
“I’m devastated to miss Misano but it is the only real option. I must wait until I am fit to ride otherwise I risk putting both myself and the other riders in danger.
“I will travel to Misano to support my Team Go Eleven Ducati squad while also continuing to work on my rehabilitation program over the race weekend. I will be back on track as soon as I am ready.”
Having called upon Tommy Bridewell as a substitute in Imola and Jerez – scoring a top ten result at the latter - it appears the team is likely to use a local Italian rider for its local event with CIV Italian Superbike Ducati riders Riccardo Russo and Lorenzo Zanetti tipped for the nod.
