John McGuinness’ 2020 Isle of Man TT Kawasaki unveiled
The Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki ZX-10RR John McGuinness will ride in the Isle of Man TT this year has just been unveiled
JOHN McGuinness has just pulled the wraps of his Isle of Man TT contender at the London Motorcycle Show. The Kawasaki ZX-10RR Ninja is the first time McGuinness has competed at the event using Kawasaki power.
McGuinness will ride Ninja ZX-10RR machinery in the RST Superbike, RL360 Superstock and Senior TT Races. McPint, as he’s known, will also contest the Superbike and Superstock races at the NW 200 event in May aboard the new machine.
McGuinness’ last taste of the podium in the superbike class came in 2016, when the Morecombe Missile took third in both the Senior and Superbike TT races. With Kawasaki, he hopes to go two places better and get the team, and himself, back to winning ways.
Speaking when the news of the signing broke, he said:
“I’m delighted to be riding for Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki at the 2020 Isle of Man TT and their record on the island with James Hillier, in terms of both results and reliability, speaks for itself. With it being such a family-orientated team, it’s the perfect fit for me and they’re a highly reputable, professional team who have achieved great things on both the roads and the circuits.”
Bournemouth Kawasaki team owner, Pete Extance, added:
“It’s absolutely incredible news that we can welcome Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness onto our Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki machinery. To me, John is Mr TT and what an honour it is to have our Bournemouth Kawasaki dealership associated with him.”
McGuinness is a 23-time winner on the famous mountain course, although in recent years the podium has been alluding him, only recently taking wins and podiums in the now-defunct TT Zero class and at the Classic TT.
