WorldSBK Most Race 2 Results | Redding fights back with win, Razgatlioglu closes
Scott Redding made up for the disappointment of missing out on victory in Race 1 to seal his third WorldSBK success of the season in Race 2 at Most
Scott Redding returned to winning ways in the third and final WorldSBK Championship race of the weekend at Most as he got his revenge back on Toprak Razgatlioglu with a formidable performance.
The ex-MotoGP rider looked on course for victory in Race 1, only to be caught out by a charging Razgatlioglu on the penultimate corner with a move Redding described as lacking ‘respect’.
However, this time it was Redding returning the favour, albeit much earlier in the race, as he recovered from running third initially to get by Andrea Locatelli and then Razgatlioglu by lap five.
From here Redding couldn’t be touched as he stretched clear of Razgatlioglu, whose second place finish nonetheless sees him nibble into Jonathan Rea’s championship lead.
Indeed, in a weekend to forget for Rea after his crash in race one and mistake in the Superpole Race that demoted him to third, the Ulsterman suffered for a poor start that had him bottled up behind Locatelli during the first half of the race.
By the time he was able to get by the front two riders had escaped, leaving him third. Enough for him to keep hold of his championship lead, it is however down from 37 points pre-weekend to just three over Razgatlioglu now.
Locatelli completed another lucrative weekend with a confident run to fourth place, with Michael Ruben Rinaldi enjoying his strongest race of the weekend to rise to the front of a busy chasing pack for fifth.
Alex Lowes followed him home in sixth, with Michael van der Mark hauling the BMW up to seventh place from Garrett Gerloff, Tom Sykes, Tom Sykes and Alvaro Bautista.
