A heartwarming gesture will take place on 14 December as motorcycle riders gather to ride in support of young people with disabilities.

The festive charity event has been running since 2014 and this year’s special get-together will see all motorcyclists, no matter what bike or level of experience you have, be able to be part of the fun and deliver toys to the young people.

Phoenix Toy Runs has supported the Rutherford School very closely and the ride will start at the Phoenix Motorcycle Training School in Bexley Road Safety Centre, Baugh Road, Footscray, Sidcup, DA14 5ED at 10:30am.

From there, riders will ride out in convoy to South London as they reach Croydon. Getting into the spirit of Christmas, riders will have the chance to wear festive attire and have decorated bikes.

At 12pm, a second meeting point will be at Phoenix Motorcycle Training, Wolsey Junior Academy School, Castle Hill Avenue Entrance, New Addington, Croydon, CR0 0TF. From there, the convoy will go through the local area before arriving at Rutherford School around 2pm. The event will conclude with prizes for best-dressed riders, gift presentations to the students, and drinks before participants ride home.

“Our annual Toy Run is more than just a motorcycle ride—it’s about bringing Christmas joy to the students, and giving back to a community that deeply needs our support. The genuine joy and excitement we bring to these young people make a lasting impact, and it’s a highlight of the year for everyone involved,” said Ruth Jaffe, Event Organiser at Phoenix Motorcycle Training.

Riders taking part on the day are asked to bring with them gifts from the Rutherford School’s Wish List, or arts and craft supplies, bath towels, colourful/animal/cartoon fleece blankets for wheelchairs, or hat/scarf/glove sets for young people between the ages of 19-25.
