8 steps to hassle-free lubing
Follow this guide to fit a Scottoiler with ease
1 Work out where you want to fit the RMV. While it can be neatly tucked away under the seat, we've opted to tie-wrap it to the Fazer's frame so we can keep an eye on the oil level.
2 The RMV's breather needs careful positioning where it won't get clogged with water and road muck. We found the perfect place here behind the pillion footrest bracket.
3 Route the delivery tube, leaving enough slack for suspension movement. If you're gluing its fixings to the underside of the swingarm, remove all traces of oil first.
4 Fix the dispenser tube so its end is at the six o'clock position on the sprocket. Ensure it doesn't foul on the sprocket or chain when the wheel is turned.
5 Next find a suitable place for the vacuum take-off tube. The Fazer has brass spigots on the inlet manifolds which connect directly to the vacuum tube from the RMV...
6 ...but other bikes, such as this Ducati Multistrada, may differ. Here, you'd remove the flat-head screw on the inlet manifold and fit one of the screw-in spigots supplied.
7 Back at the Fazer, we've fitted the vacuum tube from the RMV to the existing spigot. It may be necessary to warm the plastic fitting on the end of the tube in order to fit it.
8 Finally, make sure the vacuum tube is carefully routed, and fix it in place with cable ties. Ensure it isn't kinked and won't get trapped once the seat or any bodywork is replaced.
