BMW R nineT to be recalled

First and second-generation R nineTs to be recalled over potential swing-arm issue

BMW R nineT to be recalled

THEY don’t know it yet but BMW R nineT owners are about to have their bikes recalled over a potential swing-arm issue.

A recall was launched in America in August over a bolt connecting the swing-arm pivot pin to the frame, which could loosen, creating a hazard.

Now a recall is set to be launched in the UK over the same issue, affecting first and second-generation R nineTs manufactured since the model's launch in 2014.

A BMW source said the recall only applied to the R nineT itself and not derivative models like the R nineT Scrambler, Racer, Pure or Urban/GS.

The source said “official notifications are due out imminently” adding: “There have been no reported issues of any problems with any bikes and this recall was issued as a precautionary measure.”
