BMW Is Set to Reveal Its New R1300 R on 10 April
BMW is set to reveal an all-new R1300 R on 10 April, and it will land as a purely road-focused model within the German company’s boxer family

BMW is set to reveal its brand new R1300 R on 10 April, and as such it will arrive strictly as a road-focused model within the Boxer range, following in the footsteps of the R1300 GS and R1300 GS Adventure models.
The new smaller-capacity R12 G/S boxer twin arrived a couple of weeks as a mixture between classic roadster and enduro, while the R1300 R will be one of three new models within the R1300 range, as new RS and RT models are also on the way.
While a date of release for the two other models has not yet been announced by BMW at the time of this writing, we do know that the new R1300 R is set to be unveiled on 10 April and there are several details we expect to see confirmed.
Firstly, the R1300 R will get the same 1300cc air/liquid-cooled Boxer power unit that is found on the R1300 GS, however, it’s not yet clear if tuning will be exactly the same as the GS model. It’s also believed that BMW’s Automated Shift Assist will be available on the new bike.
There are no prototype photos but the new roadster will be a sportier model compared to others in the range. It’s believed that the bike’s power figures will be around 143bhp, while also delivering roughly 109Ib ft of torque.
The chassis will be tightened up a bit compared to the previous R1250 R, and just like the GS model, it will likely see a reduction in weight, and perhaps an overall reduction in size.
The new line-up of R1300 R, RT and RS will be direct competition for KTM’s 1390 range, but more will be revealed on 10 April.
