CCM Puts Project X Bike on Hold Due to Financial Reasons

CCM has put its new Project X adventure bike on hold after making a series of strategic redundancies

After unveiling its new Project X adventure model late last year, CCM has now confirmed that the production of the new rugged off-roader will be delayed, following a series of job cuts.

The cuts have reportedly resulted in the company’s workforce dropping to just 12 members, however, the British manufacturer is not at risk of going under. Like several manufacturers, 2024 proved to be a rough year for CCM as its output was halved compared to that of the previous calendar year.

Motorcycle sales in both January and February this year have declined, with the latter suffering a 30 per cent decrease in motorcycle sales.

This comes after Completely Motorbikes, a major retail partner of CCM’s, was forced to close its doors which has left the Bolton-based company with a total of eight distribution outlets across the UK.

It was not that long ago that Completely Motorbikes was the official title sponsor of the FS-3 Kawasaki Racing Team in British Superbike, but due to challenging market conditions, the motorcycle distributor was unable to stay afloat although CCM is not expected to suffer the same fate.

A victim of the firm’s cost cuts is the new Project X adventure bike concept that was revealed at the end of 2024, with deposits now being returned.

The price of the new bike was never disclosed, however, with CCM’s cheapest bike coming in at just under £10,000, the new off-road Project X model was expected to cost around £13,000 at least.

Plans to introduce the new Project X bike have not been scrapped completely, although it won’t be available this year.
