Motorcycle Sales Down in February Compared to 2024
Motorcycle sales have declined in February which follows on from a decline in January compared to 2024

Motorcycle sales are continuing to trend in the wrong direction as February follows January in suffering a decline compared to the same month as last year.
The numbers don’t make for pretty viewing as sales in February 2025 are down by staggering 30 per cent. A total of 3215 bike registrations were made in the month of February but it was larger motorcycles that generated the fewest sales.
That said, sales were still down across all areas of the market as the seismic decline followed on from a very poor month of January which suffered the worst result seen for the month since 2021. The decline is not necessarily a surprise, but the rate at which sales have slowed certainly is, especially after Triumph sales reached an all-time high in 2024, while Honda sales went up as well.
The MCIA (Motorcycle Industry Association) claims its forecast for Q1 of 2025 was expecting a significant drop compared to 2024 following heavy pre-registration activity that took place in the final quarter of last year.
Small-capacity scooters formed the majority of the sales for February as the Honda PCX125 produced around four times the number of registrations over bigger motorcycles.
Tony Campbell, CEO of MCIA, said: “We fully expected the market drop to continue through this quarter and will continue to monitor closely. As we move into the new season, a stronger March and Spring will be critical if the year is to fully recover. As I have stressed previously, the current economic policies introduced by this Government in October have only harmed consumer confidence and increased costs on businesses.
“The recent “long term” announcements will do little or nothing to change the short / medium term prospects. As some of these policies take hold from April onwards we can only hope the Chancellor recognises that the “so called” pro-growth strategy is failing to deliver.”
