Harley-Davidson stands with George Floyd
Harley-Davidson has made an unprecedented stand against racism and bigotry in the aftermath of the George Floyd protests
WHILE not strictly a motorcycle ‘news’ story, the death of George Floyd after being arrested by Minneapolis Police on May 25th has sparked outrage across the world.
And America’s most famous motorcycle maker has taken the unprecedented step of posting on their Instagram page in solidarity with those protesting against racism and bigotry in any form.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire review
The company has taken to social media, posting a post that racism has no place at the Milwaukee firm and that H-D stands shoulder to shoulder with those people looking to rid the world of racist division.
It goes on to say they condemn any acts of racism and bigotry of any kind, and that they want to move forward to ‘equitable society’ for all.
It reads:
‘Racism, hate or intolerance have no place at Harley-Davidson. We stand in solidarity with out Black colleagues and riders, as we condemn acts of racism and bigotry of any kind, and move forward together toward and equitable society for all.
United we ride.’
Further to the post on Instagram, the firm has now posted a black picture on their profile, before and after the post you can see above. Posting a totally black profile picture is a sign that the poster, in this case Harley-Davidson, is supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, and that they stand in solidarity with the friends, family and supporters of George Floyd.
Tensions are running high in the states currently, fuelled also by statements that gave further anger to the protesters of President Donald Trump. Harley-Davidson, a company that has been in Trump’s crosshairs for some time now, obviously wanted to express its clear condemnation of any form of racial hatred.
