Moto Guzzi teases new centenary edition motorcycle
Legendary Italian brand Moto Guzzi might just have hidden a new model in plain site in this centenary anniversary image
AS Moto Guzzi celebrates a century of success on the road and track, it might just have handed us a teaser that includes a potential special edition, hidden in the corner.
The image charts many of Moto Guzzi’s biggest and best models, both race bikes and those destined for the road. But tucked away in the corner of the image is a curiously blurred image showing the outline of a naked roadster.
The news of the existence of the new model was also confirmed by Roberto Colianinno, Piaggio Groups CEO in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport. In it, the Piaggio CEO first confirms that the Mandello del Lario plant will be completely renovated, with world-leading architect Gregg Lynn leading the way. Once the factory is complete, work can then begin on the new model.
Very little is given away by Colianinno, although as the brand is celebrating its centenary, we’d imagine it’ll be rather special. He said: “Here the centenary Guzzi will be born whose project could be presented at the next Eicma. It will be extraordinary in terms of technology, design, and performance”.
Again, the image of the bike doesn’t give much away in terms of what it could be. I want to get really excited and say that a Ducati Monster rival from Guzzi is inbound, although it’s really too early to say. What we can say is that the bike seems to be a squat and muscular looking sports naked, and anything more than that, it'd be pure guesswork!
