SPOTTED: Ducati Streetfighter V4 and new Ducati 959
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Ducati 959 make a camo-appearance in Italy well ahead of their anticipated world debut in October
THESE are the latest shots of the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the Ducati 959 out in the open ahead of their expected official world premiere in October.
Following the successful launch of the halo Ducati Panigale V4, which represents a shift in ethos for the Italian marque, Ducati has been busily readying a series of models to bring the range into line with its halo Superbike.
As such, numerous models have been spotted on test in recent weeks – including the updated Ducati 1260 Multisrada - but these are the latest shots of the Streetfighter V4 and the 959. Seems bikes can’t even get a drink without being courted by the paps… (we jest).
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 has enjoyed numerous outings – official and unofficial – over the past few weeks, not least during an outing at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where it was entered as a prototype, albeit a very production-ready looking version of it.
Specific tech specs are still ‘pending’ but we can surmise the naked is a stripped back version of the Panigale V4 with a higher and wider handlebar set up and new fairings. With the Panigale V4 stirring emotions with its sound and feel, anticipation is very high for this Streetfighter V4 too.
Meanwhile, the Panigale V4 inspired ‘959’ will be brought into line with its big brother by sharing a number of parts and styling with the Superbike, though there remains uncertainty over whether it will retain a V2 or receive the full V4 treatment. We’re happy to wait for the surprise when it comes in an official capacity.
When can we see the Ducati 2020 model range?
Each bike is expected to get its official world premiere on 23rd October when Ducati plans to unveil its 2020 model range to the world in an online presentation. Chances are – based on this fairly steady stream of spy shots leaking out of Borgo Panigale thanks to eagle-eyed enthusiasts – we’ll likely see more over the next couple of months.
We’ll then be able to feel the models at EICMA on November 5th when they are likely to be on show for us to enjoy.
It’s quite the build up!
