The R25 has been in the Kriega range since 2001 and in 2024 is gaining its most comprehensive update

‘If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it’ could well be the mantra for the design team at Kriega, the Welsh company that has gone on to be one of the biggest names in motorcycle luggage and backpacks.

Evidence of this is its highly successful R25 rucksack, which has been a staple in the range since way back in 2001. With only minimal updates from then until now, the R25 is one of the most easily recognisable pieces of bike luggage on the market, although that changes for 2024, as the R25 has undergone its biggest update since its launch.

The biggest change with the new product is the addition of a roll-top and totally waterproof main compartment, featuring a taped seam and that distinctive Drypack white liner. The total storage capacity is 25 litres, with the rest being located in a five-litre pocket accessed via a zip on the side of the main compartment.

Elsewhere the 2024 R25 features a new ‘soft feel’ back panel, and new reflective elements on the back of the rucksack for increased visibility. It can also, as was the case with the outgoing R25, be fitted with Kriega harness pockets, allowing you to increase capacity and keep your important kit within easy reach while you ride. It also has the loops on hand should you want to fit a hydration pack.

What Kriega hasn’t done with the new product is change the things that didn’t need to be changed, meaning the Quadloc harness, heavy-duty Cordura, YKK zips and Kriega’s signature alloy adjusters are all very much still in attendance.

The new Kriega R25 is available now on the official website. It’s priced at £219 and is backed by a 10-year guarantee - as are all of Kriega's bags.
