New KTM Freeride E Unveiled as Part of Model Refresh
KTM has introduced an all-new 2025 Freeride E Offroad motorcycle to take its electric range to the next level
Electric motorcycles are becoming more and more prevalent in the motorcycle world and so it's of no surprise that KTM is one of the companies pushing in that direction.
Ten years ago the Austrian brand produced its first-ever Freeride E motorcycle, however, a completely new 2025 model has just landed with updates aplenty. Starting with the electric drivetrain which KTM says is ‘the most exciting interpretation’ yet, the Freeride E generates 25.4bhp and 27.2Ib ft of torque.
What’s New?
In an attempt to make its newest off-road electric motorcycle quieter than ever before, the engine has been fully integrated into the overall character and feel of the motorcycle.
Three ride modes exist and those are Eco, Normal, and Sport, while there are also three energy recuperation settings – Off, Mid, and High. They can be synced to ensure flexibility with the range and power package of the KTM Freeride E. Traction control can also be adjusted to a certain level to limit or increase wheelspin. Increased safety measures taken have resulted in a ‘rollover sensor’ that cuts the power in the event of a crash.
As is standard with all KTM motorcycles the suspension system comprises WP. A 43mm WP XACT split design fork is on the front of the motorcycle. The Freeride E’s brand-new design includes a WP XPLOR PDS system that provides 250 mm of travel on the rear.
Other features include black aluminium wheels (fitted with Michelin Enduro Medium tyres for EU models), and Braketec braking systems with 260/240mm on the front and rear discs.
The new version of the Freeride E has a huge 20 per cent increase in its battery capacity and takes up to eight hours to charge fully. The battery can be removed in ten minutes, says KTM.
A statement from KTM on its newly refreshed electric off-road bike, said: “KTM treasures the virtues of the platform: the KTM Freeride E tackles not only some of the environmental issues with offroading (low emissions and near-silent noise, which means it can be ridden almost anywhere) but also the benefits of low maintenance.
“The all-new KTM Freeride E is also the perfect choice for riders seeking trial-like capabilities without the limitations of a traditional trials bike, such as the lack of a seat, short gear ratios, and excessive noise.
“The bike provides the thrill of instant torque and power, and a set-up with both brakes mounted on the handlebars will allow experienced users to work more on their technique and positioning while being the easiest possible introduction to the awesomeness of riding for newcomers.”
