Goodyear to implement "reinvigorated approach" to Avon Tyres

Avon Tyres will take a new, condensed approach from now on, according to a press release issued by Avon's parent company, Goodyear.

Goodyear to implement

A new approach for Avon Tyres has been announced by Goodyear, who acquired the brand in 2022.

This “fresh focus” and “reinvigorated approach” that Goodyear has announced for the Avon brand is currently relatively light on detail, particularly for the long-term, but we do know, from a Goodyear press release, that it will see Avon work in complement to Dunlop, which is also owned by Goodyear.

“Goodyear’s long-term strategy for its two famous motorcycle tyre brands,” the press release reads, “focuses on further developing its motorcycle centre of excellence in Montlucon, France, where many of the premium products in the Dunlop range are currently developed alongside World Championship level racing tyres for Moto2 and the FIM Endurance World Championship.”

We also know that the Avon range will now be condensed, or “focused” as Goodyear puts it. The range from Avon will now include the following tyres:

  • Cobra Chrome (cruiser)
  • Roadrider MKII (sports tourer)
  • 3D Supersport (hypersport)
  • Spirit ST (sports tourer)
  • Streetrunner (sports tourer)
  • Trailrider (adventure)
  • Trekrider (adventure)
  • Safety Mileage MKII (classic)
  • Speedmaster MKII (classic)
  • Viper Stryke (scooter)

Ben Hoge, General Manager, Motorcycle Europe, Goodyear, stated: “Dunlop and Avon have proud histories and exciting futures. The ranges are highly complementary and meaningfully differentiated, so this gives us the opportunity to offer a wider selection of tires, with one of the youngest product portfolios in the industry, to the trade and riders alike.

“As we plan for 2024 and beyond, we will reveal new product lines, technology upgrades and clear market positioning for both brands.”
