Wayne Gardner: 'The TT is insane, outdated and should be banned'
Former 500cc champ speaks out against legendary road racing event
FORMER 500CC World Champion Wayne Gardner has ranted again in his online column, stating the Isle of Man TT is 'insane, outdated and should be banned'.
Giving his thoughts via his online blog waynegardnerapproved.com, the Australian launches a vicious attack on the TT, saying he believes inexperienced racers are tempted to compete at the Island by the lure of start money and the chance of bagging a substantial cash prize.
Last week in his online column, Gardner blasted MotoGP, calling the series 'a disaster'.
Attempting to justify his comments on the TT, Gardner says he once tried learning the 37.73-mile course with a view to racing, but in the end elected to give the event a miss.
The 1987 500cc champ finishes his rant with: 'The TT virtually guarantees bodies in boxes every year.'
We're not sure who's running Gardner's website but, considering his views, maybe they should drop the '2010 TT highlights' video from the front page.
