Biker killed at disused colliery

AN OFF-ROAD motorcyclist has been involved in a fatal collision at a disused coal mine.

Kyle Turner, a 20-year-old from Moorends, Doncaster, died later in hospital from serious head injuries. A 26-year-old man was also involved in the collision and is being treated in hospital having sustained serious injuries.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Thorne Colliery, which is a known place for off-roading in the South Yorkshire area. Sources say two riders were involved in a near head-on accident at the top of a steep incline, one was riding a Kawasaki - the other a Suzuki.

South Yorkshire Police urges anyone who saw the collision to contact them.
