This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) event will feature a celebration of Carl Fogarty’s 1995 WorldSBK title win, the second of four championships he won with Ducati.

After winning his maiden WorldSBK championship in 1994, Fogarty would go on to defend his title in 1995 by winning a further three races compared to the total he managed the year prior, which resulted in the British rider securing a total of 13 wins that year.

Despite winning another two titles in 1998 and 1999, Fogarty’s most successful season was the 1995 campaign and it’s been deemed his best year, according to Goodwood.

Following a very brief spell at Honda in 1996, his second with the Japanese brand, Fogarty returned to the red of Ducati which immediately made him a title contender in 1997 before going on to win the crown in 1998 despite only winning three races that year - one less than his 1996 season aboard a Honda.

Riding the famous Ducati 916 to title glory, Fogarty’s 1995 season is widely recognised as his best as he beat fellow Ducati rider Troy Corser to the title by a whopping 138 points.

A statement from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, said: “This year at the Festival of Speed, [Carl] Fogarty will be reunited with the Ducati 916 that he rode to championship glory in 1995. He’ll be in action on the famous Goodwood Hill across all four days of the event.”

The statement adds that Fogarty will be in attendance for the “huge celebration of World Superbikes at the 2025 Festival of Speed,” which will include over 40 bikes and several top riders from the 1990 era.

“I’ve had such a great time at the Festival of Speed over the years, riding up the Hill on all sorts,” added Fogarty. “I haven’t seen my 1995 Ducati 916 for a while, so I’m looking forward to being reunited with the bike across the weekend.”
