Honda CB300F is Set to Use Flex-Fuel in India For the First Time
As the fight to lower emissions continues, Honda’s CB300F has become India’s first motorcycle to use flex-fuel
India has taken a huge step to cut down on emissions with its first flex-fuel motorcycle, the Honda CB300F, which will combine E20 and E85 petrol.
E85 is a fuel typically made up of 85 per cent ethanol and 15 per cent gasoline or other hydrocarbon. It is used in flex-fuel vehicles and petrol cars that have been converted to use E85.
The motorcycle industry is not as advanced as the automotive industry when it comes to hybrid vehicles, although Kawasaki is one of the leading brands when it comes to hybrid machines thanks to its Ninja 7 Hybrid.
However, a flex-fuel setup, although extremely rare, fits in perfectly with what the Indian market is trying to achieve as the country is the third-largest producer and consumer of ethanol in the world. While flex-fuel with E-85 will help with lowering emissions it will also benefit the country’s economy. E-85 fuel is not available in the UK but is otherwise found in some European markets, France being one of the markets where it is available.
In terms of the CB300F, it is one considered one of the most popular and highly-sought after bikes in the Indian market. The flex-fuel version of the CB300F keeps all the same features as the standard CB300F model. Powered by a 293cc oil-cooled four-stroke engine, the flex-fuel version of the bike produces 24.5bhp - 0.4 more than the non-flex-fuel model.
The torque figure is also increased by 0.2lb ft, making a total of 19.84Ib ft. the new flex-fuel model has two colour options included which are Matt Axis Grey Metallic and Sports Red. the only difference being the standard CB300F includes a Matt Marvel Blue Metallic colourway.
The CB300F is slightly different to the CB300R that’s sold in the United States, but neither version of Honda’s 300cc naked-style bike is available in the UK.
