For the first time, something I’ll be saying again later on, the new Ducati XDiavel V4 adopts the same 1158cc MotoGP-derived V4 Granturismo engine that features across the Panigale and Streetighter V4 models, as well as the XDiavel’s cruiser sibling, the Diavel V4.

In previous years we would have called the Diavel V4 the sportier version of the two cruiser models from Ducati without blinking, and while that still remains the case, just about, the XDiavel has become the sportiest X model to land when comparing it to the 1260 S, and the V4 Granturismo engine is one of the reasons why.

As a result, the new 2025 XDiavel is more powerful than ever as it produces 168bhp at 10,750rpm and 93Ib ft of torque at 7500rpm, identical to the Diavel V4. Receiving the V4 Granturismo engine means the new XDiavel V4 gets the same counter-rotating crankshaft that’s on the Ducati MotoGP bike, which in turn will make it the most nimble XDiavel model to ever be produced.

The new XDiavel V4 is now lighter than the previous models as it comes in with a revised kerb weight of 229kg, which is six kilos lighter than before. That’s due to the incorporation of the MotoGP-derived engine.

For the suspension, the new XDiavel is fitted with 50mm fully adjustable USD forks, while the rear includes a fully adjustable monoshock absorber and single-sided aluminium swingarm.

The brakes are the best in the business as the new sporty muscle cruiser gets double 330mm brake discs gripped by Brembo Stylema monobloc four-piston callipers at the front. On the rear is a 265mm single disc with two-piston Brembo callipers.

One of the big changes compared to the previous 1260 S model is the rider position, with the XDiavel featuring handlebars that have been lowered as well as set closer to the rider. The rear suspension travel is increased by 25mm, while it also features a new seat that’s thicker than before in order to improve comfort.

The XDiavel V4 offers three power modes and four riding modes which are Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet, allowing the rider to adjust the power delivery. Rider aids come in the form of Ducati’s own traction control, wheelie control and ABS as well as cornering ABS. Cruise control is standard, as is the quickshifter that’s based on the system found on the new Panigale V4. A new 6.9-inch TFT colour dashboard has been added, which was also first introduced on the Panigale V4.

The dashboard also offers Bluetooth connectivity to pair the smartphone for calls, text messages and music, or use the turn-by-turn navigation system (only available as an accessory) via the Ducati Link App.

For the first time, the XDiavel V4 is available in two colours which are Burning Red and Black Lava, both metallic. The new XDiavel V4 will arrive in dealerships as early as May 2025.
