A MOTORCYCLE racer has been killed following a crash at Snetterton Circuit at the weekend.

Simon Exton, 52, from Guilford, Surrey, received fatal injuries after a start line incident during a British Motorcycle Racing Club event on Sunday .

An investigation has been launched following the death of the rider. A statement on the British Motorcycle Racing Club website said:

“It is with great sadness that the club announces the death of Simon Exton as a result of the injuries he sustained in a start line incident at Snetterton on Sunday March 28.”

“Simon was 52 and known as a 400 rider, although for this meeting he had opted to move over to Thunderbikes. His racing career started together with his son Max back in 2007 and he became well known amongst the 400's fraternity and beyond.”

“The club also owed him its gratitude for creating the staging for our awards dinner over the last 3 years, without his expertise the events would not have been as outstanding.

“He will be greatly missed by us all at the club as a man of great sensitivity and kindness, respected by all he met. Our thoughts are with his family, sons Max and Ben and fiancée Suzie at this very difficult time.”

Circuit owners, MotorSport Vision, said the incident was being investigated internally.
