WorldSBK heads to a new track in 2021 as Circuito de Navarra confirmed
The 2021 WorldSBK calendar has been updated with the Circuito de Navarra joining and Aragon hosting the season opener
THE 2021 WorldSBK season may be starting in May but that doesn’t mean the race calendar is fixed, as the Circuito de Navarra is added and Aragon confirmed as hosting the season opener in place of Estoril.
The changes have been brought in due to local restrictions making the current calendar untenable. Because of this, a new circuit will join the calendar as the Circuito de Navarra becomes the fifth Round of the 2021 Superbike World Championship. It’s located in Los Arcos, in the north of Spain, and was opened in 2010. It has already hosted events for both national and international level competitions, although this is the first time WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes will have visited it in this capacity.
The event means the track will now be venue number five on the list this year, with teams and riders heading to the track for the race which is planned for the 20th to the 22nd of August.
Another change sees Estoril seemingly nerfed for this year, with Aragon standing in for the opening round. That should take place 21st to the 23rd of May – it is not yet known if or when the Estoril round will take place.
