Triumph Secures its Next World Supersport Hopeful for 2025
Oli Bayliss, son of three-time World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss, has joined the British manufacturer for the upcoming season
Formerly of Ducati, Oli Bayliss has switched to the British brand for the upcoming World Supersport campaign, where he will ride a Street Triple 765 RS. The switch to Triumph means Oli, son of three-time World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss, will become a factory team rider for the first time in his World Supersport career.
Bayliss, who previously rode for the Barni Racing team, was part of the D34G Ducati outfit in 2024 as he secured a best finish of fifth aboard the Panigale V2. Ducati, like in most classes over the last two seasons, have proven to be king when it comes to championship success.
The Aruba.it Ducati team won both the 2023 and 2024 Supersport titles, with Nicolo Bulega winning the first of those before Adrian Huertas claimed the championship this year.
But for Bayliss, switching from Ducati to Triumph presents a new challenge and one he will face under Simon Buckmaster’s factory PTR Triumph team.
“I am super excited to continue my World Supersport journey in 2025 with PTR Triumph,” Bayliss said. “We had a test straight after the last round in Jerez and I felt good on the bike and gelled well with the team.
“I need to say a big thank you to Darrell Healey and GSE for their continuous support over the years and to Simon Buckmaster for giving me this opportunity. I think we can have a good season and achieve some goals.”
Bayliss will team up with British rider Tom Booth-Amos in 2025, who was part of the Triumph set-up in 2024.
Team Manager of PTR Triumph Factory Racing, Buckmaster added: “It’s great news we have been able to finalise the deal with Oli Bayliss. He tested with us straight after the last round at Jerez this year and straight away he gelled with Tom, they know each other anyway and get on well.
“It’s fantastic for us as a team to have two strong riders working together data-wise to help bring both of them on. We are really excited and looking forward to 2025.”
